Best Beach Summer Snacks

June 7, 2016

Summer is almost upon us and if you plan on spending some relaxing time with us in Daytona Beach at the Hawaiian Inn to enjoy our beautiful beaches and endless sunshine, we want to make sure you come prepared. The best perk of staying in a hotel that offers suites equipped with a kitchen is the ability to make your own meals and store your daily snacks. But do you know what snacks make a great treat at the beach? Here are some suggestions that are sure to please the whole family:

strawberries at the beachFruit: To save you some time in the kitchen, pick fruits that are easy to eat on the go and don’t require any peeling or preparation. Apples, pears, strawberries and bananas are great on the go!

walnutsNuts: peanuts, walnuts, pistachios, almonds, hazelnut… there are so many options to choose from. Just make sure you buy them ready to eat. Having to crack them open when traveling with kids can be quite of a hassle, but most supermarkets sell them bagged and ready to go. The healthy fats in nuts will help keep you full for longer.

popcornPopcorn: If your room has a microwave, popcorn is a great option to substitute chips. The non-buttered kind is much healthier than the fat-loaded chips and will satisfy your urge to crunch or something salty. As long as you make your popcorn and let it rest in an open bag (so the condensation won’t form and make them saggy) you can actually make popcorn the night before and store it in a plastic bag once they have cooled down.

peanut-butter-jelly sandwichSandwich: The good old peanut butter sandwich with a side of veggies are a great option as they keep better in a warm environment. Avoid taking dairy items like cheese sandwiches or cheese string unless you have a cooler that is good enough to ensure items won’t spoil.

Above all, remember to drink lots of water and stay hydrated. Your body and skin will thank you for it. We hope you guys enjoyed these tips and we’ll see you soon!
